Manufacturing
Stamping
& Tube Bending
Bostrom's
manufacturing process begins with metal component fabrication, which is
accomplished through stamping and tube bending. These processes range
in capability up to 300 tons.
Welding
The
formed metal components are now ready to be welded. Within this process
the components are assembled via mig welding utilizing pneumatic tooling
fixtures and some robotic welding.
Painting
Upon
completion of the welding process, the finished assembly is placed directly
onto a pre-treat conveyor, which cleans, coats, and seals the metal in
preparation for painting. After this process takes place the coated parts
enter a paint curing process at temperatures exceeding 350 degrees. The
parts continue on the conveyor over head, which allows the metal temperatures
to be reduced to a handling temperature.
Cutting
Materials
used for upholstery are cut using the "Gerber Cutter". The "Gerber
Cutter" is a computerized means of unrolling and cutting bolts of
material. Using a computerized tool reduces scrap material tremendously,
which is a cost reduction and the preciseness eliminates rejected parts,
which improves quality.
Sewing
Upon
completion of cutting, the components flow through subsequent processes,
which include composite built up of the seating surface, dielectric heat-seal
emboss of customer logos and embroidery, ect. The actual covers are assembled
by sewing. This is accomplished by ergonomically designed cellular manufacturing,
which drives teamwork and maximizes space utilizaion.
Final
Assembly
 The
completed upholstered covers and coated metal are joined together in the
final assembly department. Final assembly consists of multiple product
lines and shifts, which utilize cellular manufacturing technology while
assembling the final product.
Total quality
management is practiced at the end of each line to ensure each seat is
built correctly. Upon approval, the seat is then scanned, which relives
inventory components used, and placed into finished goods.
Shipping
Each
seat is mechanically manipulated into a box, shrink wrapped and staged
for shipment. In the staging process each box is scanned, which initiates
shipping documentation and invoicing. After all the proper shipping documentation
has been created, seats are shipped to their proper destination via carrier
of the customers request.
